Hi, all fellow art enthusiasts!
I’m thrilled to share that I recently leapt into the world of teaching, by hosting my first watercolour flower painting workshop. It was a journey filled with excitement and nerves, but also an immense amount of joy.
As soon as I decided to organise the workshop, I poured all my energy into planning every detail, from carefully setting up my home-based studio for the event to preparing my notes for an interesting in-person painting tutorial. As the workshop day approached, my anticipation grew, accompanied by some apprehension. Would everything go smoothly, would the participants enjoy themselves and find value in what I had to offer?
As the attendees arrived, any lingering nerves melted away, replaced by camaraderie and shared passion for creativity. Seeing the eager faces of those who had come to learn from me was incredibly humbling and inspiring.
Throughout the workshop, we explored various watercolour techniques, from blending paint to applying the paint wet on wet or wet on dry to creating washes and gradients.
I shared tips and tricks that I’ve picked up along my artistic journey, but what truly made the experience special was witnessing the unique interpretations and expressions of their final project. There were moments of frustration and uncertainty, as often is the case with any creative endeavour, but those were quickly overshadowed by moments of breakthrough and discovery. Witnessing the confidence an excitement grow in my students as they unleashed their creativity was magical.
By the end of the workshop (which over ran slightly oops – first one), it was clear that we all gained something invaluable – not just new painting techniques, but also a sense of connection, inspiration but also relaxation and joy. I left deeplpy grateful for the opportunity to share my passion to watercolour painting and to learn and grow alongside such a wonderful group pf individuals.
To anyone out there who’s been toying with the idea of hosting their own workshop, I say go for it! It may feel daunting at first, but the rewards far outweigh any challenges. There’s something truly special about bringing people together to explore their creativity and learn more from one another.
As for me, the first workshop is just the beginning of what I hope will be many more opportunities to share my love of Art in general. I’m looking forward to future workshops. Talking of which, I have two more planned on Saturday 1st of June and also on the 15th of June 2024.
